00PM; must be flexible and be available to address issues on all 3 shifts and weekends Position Summary The VP, GenPath Operations is responsible for ensuring the overall success of the Laboratories as measured by meeting and maintaining budget projections, client satisfaction (quality and service delivery), employee engagement and Compliance requirements.
The VP, GenPath Operations functions as liaison between the laboratory as well as Sales /Marketing, Finance, Human Resources, IT, Compliance and Quality.
The VP, GenPath Operations provides leadership and ensures the training, development and supervision of laboratory personnel, and plans and schedules the activities of the laboratories.
The VP, GenPath Operations assumes responsibility for the proper application of policies and procedures and operates the laboratories on a cost-effective basis.
Also, serves as the liaison to various internal and external entities.
The VP, GenPath Operations works with the Lab Directors, Technical Lab Management and Quality Department to ensure the lab is compliant in accordance with the requirements of local and federal governing bodies, accreditation agencies and applicable regulatory requirements.
Essential Duties and
Responsibilities:
Duties may include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Be a proactive leader and identify opportunities and propose improvements, efficiencies and operational modifications as it relates to the laboratory Works with Technical Lab Management and Laboratory Operations Directors to identify and understand regulatory requirements to ensure the laboratory is in compliance in accordance with the requirements of local and federal governing bodies, accreditation agencies and applicable regulatory requirements Collaborates with management to optimize overall workflow of the Laboratories Maintains adequate trained staff and performs scheduling, planning, and monitoring of workflow based on volume to meet established goals Oversees laboratory inventory system (set-up process to help keep track of lab supplies needed) Ensures controls are created to appropriate supplies and equipment to maximize efficiency Establish necessary budgetary controls and maintain costs without impact to the lab's quality goals Ensures laboratory personnel follows SOP's, compliance regulations, company policies and procedures including but not limited to Quality and Safety Oversees the supervision and work schedules of all Laboratory personnel Ensures training and competency of all testing personnel is completed as required Prioritizes responsibilities, anticipates problems and provides timely and appropriate solutions Ability to liaison with other operational areas including sales and logistics Minimum Education &
Experience:
BA/BS required in related field (Biology, Chemistry, Life sciences, Medical Technology program); Minimum of six years of previous laboratory operations experience.
Master's Degree preferred.
Minimum of 6
years of Director level
experience working for a large commercial laboratory.
Experience developing and reviewing sizable budgets, and managing overall P&L Experience facilitating communication and partnering with staff, technical lab directors, lab departments and senior leadership Proven experience in the areas of laboratory supervision, Laboratory Information's System (LIS) requirements and workflow needs and technical capabilities Experience working with Technical Lab Directors to ensure that we are meeting the highest Medical Quality and Service metrics with a focus on continuous improvement at a competitive cost Experience working with Quality Management System including some knowledge of all laws and regulations that are required in accordance with the requirements of local and federal governing bodies, accreditation agencies and applicable regulatory requirements Professional communication skills, including verbal, written, and presentation Collaboration skills, with the ability to positively influence others Strong leadership skills; able to support and demonstrate company mission, and perform as a team member and leader Strong strategic, and proactive thinking skills; able to make and support decisions Computer proficient with multiple software programs, including MS Office Suite, and Laboratory Management System BioReference is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
