Northern NJ Bank seeking Consumer Credit Specialist to process and underwrite home equity loans consistent with department policies, procedures, and turnaround time goals. Provides support to the VP and AVP in the daily functions of the department as needed. Serves in the capacity of a Mortgage Loan Officer by discussing loan products & terms with potential applicants.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Performs the functions of an Originator/ Mortgage Loan Officer by providing potential customers in person and over the phone with detailed information about the Bank's Home Equity Products including rates and terms.
Responsible for logging in new loan applications in appropriate register(s) referencing the identified source of the referral.
Responsible for opening the application by arranging the documentation in proper file order and enters required data on the LOS system.
Responsible for ordering required reports including Credit, Lexis Nexis, CFPB Counselor List, and Internal Customer Search through the bank's core processor.
Prepares required initial Good Faith Estimate and Truth In Lending Disclosure forms.
Prepares correspondence to the customer for missing or additional information as needed, along with delivering the required disclosures within the appropriate time frame.
Responsible for processing the credit application within established department policies and procedures to determine if applicants are qualified, or if an Adverse Action is appropriate for negotiation or denial.
Orders Property Searches, Appraisals, and Flood Certifications along with any other necessary reports needed for final underwriting.
Responsible for tracking all pending reports and other open documentation by maintaining a Tickler File
Responsible for completing the final underwriting of loans within authority levels and makes recommendations on applications outside of lending authority.
Assists in the closing/funding area as volume warrants.
Keeps informed of all applicable Consumer Lending laws/regulations and market conditions; provides recommendations for changes in department policies and procedures as appropriate.
Performs other duties as required.
Education:
College Degree preferred or equivalent related business experience.
Registered MLO or eligible to be registered upon employment.
Experience:
Minimum of 3 years Consumer Credit experience with lending authority and familiarity emphasis in Home Equity Lending.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good analytical ability.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel and familiarity with automated LOS systems
Ability to organize workload and manage multiple tasks.



Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
